Bialystok, as befits a regional capital, is the largest city in Podlasie. It is a very friendly, pleasant and insanely green city. For as much as 32% of its area is occupied by green spaces. Add to this the fact that the city is located in close proximity to two nature reserves and the Narew National Park, and it comes as no surprise that it is located in the region known as the Green Lungs of Poland. This has also been recognized by the WHO, which accepted the city, as the first in Poland, into the international project of the Healthy Cities Network.
